Problem

An Error code 8 is received, when trying to play the game [3.5.5.3;300D(mdrv reg) LE:8]

Solution

This is caused by programs running in the background taking up memory. You should disable all programs running in the background,
before starting the game. Normally any background programs can be shut down by right clicking on their icon in the system tray.
Performing a system restart may also free up some memory.

If the problem persists, Can you try the following...

a) Click on the Windows Start button and select 'Run'. In the 'open' box enter "msconfig" (without the speech marks).
b) In the general tab click on 'selective startup'
c) Now click on the startup tab (the last tab at the top of the msconfig screen) and UNtick everything EXCEPT 'systray' and 'scanregistry'
(if they appear. If they do not, don’t worry).
d) Now close msconfig, you will be prompted to re-start your PC. Select 'Restart'
e) When the PC has re-booted, you will see a box with System Configuration Utility as its title. Tick the checkbox and then click on OK.
f) Now try the game again.

Problem

What ports are required to play Worms online?

Solution

n order for Worms Mayhem to function correctly online, the host (and sometimes the clients) MUST have open/forward port 5911. This
port must be opened/forwarded for BOTH TCP and UDP traffic.

Software Firewalls.

Usually, software firewalls will detect that the Worms executable is attempting to access the Internet and require the user to allow this. We
have seen occasions with other games when a software firewall will detect ONLY the TCP traffic and therefore open ONLY the TCP port.
The user should be advised to confirm that they have Port 5911 opened for TCP AND UDP traffic.

Routers.

We have tested with some of the most popular routers and have had no issues here. Again, the user must make sure that a rule is set up
to forward BOTH UDP and TCP traffic to the machine running worms. Please note that due to the nature of port forwarding, only one
machine can have port 5911 forwarded to it and so anybody trying to connect with more that one machine running Worms behind the
same router may encounter problems. We do not recommend this.

Customers must also be aware that if they have a software firewall running as well as a router they must open/forward ports in both.

Service patch 1 is now available for download. It is essential to
upgrade your copy of Worms 4: Mayhem to the latest version as it
includes significant bug fixes and features.

The main bug fixes apply to the network side of the game, including
setting up games and improvements to the user interface.

Added features have also been implemented. You can now chat in between
turns and plug & play support for routers is available (making getting
online easier). Problems with the "never-ending rope hooking" bug have
also been ironed out.
